Twins Reunited After 25 Years Have Verona Connection
The story of Samantha Futerman, a 2005 VHS graduate caught the attention of many Verona residents due to the publicity for the the movie, Twinsters. Many people have been surprised that such an interesting story can come from our small town like ours.
Twinsters is based on the actual life story of Samantha Futerman and Anaïs Bordier. Samantha was raised in Verona and Anais was raised in France. The two girls, who are twins who spent their whole childhoods not knowing that fact, were adopted by different families and found each other 25 years later all thanks to Samantha’s YouTube channel.
When a friend of Bordier’s found Samantha’s YouTube channel, she thought the two of them looked very similar. Anais googled Samantha, finding out that they had the same birthday and were born in the same place.
According to an interview with Futerman and Bordier on seventeen.com, when Futerman and Bordier finally connected through Skype they felt immediately connected with each other.
“The two of us were immediately just comfortable with each other. And it never really went away,” said Futerman.
In the interview from seventeen.com Futerman was asked if she wished she could have
found out about Bordier earlier, and she responded that of course she did, but she is extremely happy that they were able to connect and find each other when they did.
VHS Junior Gabi Horton said that it was amazing that the two of them were able to find each other from across the world. “Since I was adopted from China just a few weeks after I was born, I always wonder if I have a twin or any siblings from my biological family, and it would be amazing to find out if I had them.”
A story like this really makes one wonder what it is like to be a twin.
Emma Francullo, a VHS junior who is a twin said that she can’t even imagine what her
life would be without her twin brother.” My brother has always been overprotective of
me, but it was great growing up together because I always knew that be he would be my best
friend no matter what.”
“When someone asks me what it is like to be a twin,” said VHS junior Alexa McPhail,” I really can’t explain it; it’s just someone that is more connected to me than my other siblings, and someone that I know will be there and have my back no matter what.”
