Food Truck Festival
On October 8, 2017, a new tradition began at VHS – the Food Truck Festival. The food trucks -including Thai Elephant, Empanada Lady, The French Quarter, Koro Koro, Bro-Ritos, and more – filled the high school parking lot for all to enjoy.
There were also several inflatables for kids to bounce around on as well as inflatable games to keep the kids entertained. There will be a variety of different vehicles for kids to explore such as fire trucks, ambulances, bulldozers and more.
Other vendors that sell clothes or decorations had an areas in the parking lot. The Verona Girls’ Volleyball team sold Dig Pink shirts, the profits from which go to Minette’s Angels and an anti-bullying campaign called “Play Nice” sold all different apparel, with their profits going to Stomp Out Bullying.
Wristbands were sold for kids to have access to all of the inflatables and the “Touch a Truck” station and all proceeds went to the SCA, which raises funds for all of the schools in Verona.
Students in the National Honor Society worked at the inflatables or the truck stations as part of the volunteer hour they fulfill mostly through tutoring. This event is a great way for students to get involved in the community, complete some volunteer hours, and eat some good food, all in one afternoon.
